William (my son) has the drive, I don't need to push him. That's what happens when you put a bugle in a boy's crib.

Yeppir, there is Thomas Newman and a few others out there. The younger people will takes bits and pieces of
what Horner, Williams and others have left and they will go on.

I think if god himself ever makes a movie, he'll hire John Williams to do music.

I loved playing this (horn here, too)!! Except the part about my lips...that was rough.

It is prefect fun as a hornplayer :) With a solid team this is just such a brilliant oportunity to show of :D
22/10/2016 One2onepoint618
I spend the whole piece worrying about that high trill at the end, LOL. What a dirty trick!...but also a gift in terms of great opportunities for bragging rights.
03/03/2017 Kerry McKenna
ha ha!!

Also, One2onepoint618, you were on that 8D.  Don't forget the smaller bore horn you tried from Balu and just screamed out those high parts like they were nothing.  Thanks also for just ripping into that opening lick any time you got bored in rehearsal--no matter what piece we were rehearsing, haha.
02/10/2013 Greg Greg
Glad he's composing Episode 7. Michael Giacchino is a great composer and has done some wonderful music for JJ Abrams. But Star Wars without John Williams just wouldn't be the same.

Brilliant and ingenious. Like Copland at his best. If Williams had been born in 1780 he would have been a fine Classical and Romantic composer.

It's a shame this is so low quality. :(

Responder a este comentario >>

03/03/2017 Kerry McKenna
...and that this lesser quality sound is during a performance when the overall speed is honored. I've heard others that were at tempo too slow...it should sound like a wagon train racing around the bend of a mountainside, almost falling off at any minute!!

Are you joking? This the Boston Pops performing in Tokyo. I do not know if I should take your comment seriously...

At the time I saw this fil in the late 80's on video. I hadn't caught who did the score on the credits. When I heard the music though, I thought "is that John Williams"? Then I looked at the credits and thought "wow". This is one of the best scores ever for a western and it reminds me of some of the great music guys like Dimitri Tiomkin did for John Ford a Generation earlier. Perfect score for one of the last great films of the legendary John Wayne. Wayne and Williams both broke the mold.

Wonderful, derivative of Aaron Copland but typical Williams energy and passion. This guy is a true genius, not only for the music itself but his ability to dramatically enhance any film he composes for. This is the best music written for a Duke Wayne movie, and captures his cinematic spirit with near perfection! Love this music!
