I've seen the movie & bought the soundtrack (twice). Simply wonderful music that I still continue to listen to. Thank you for sharing.

I love this music and after seeing the film and hearing the score in 1995 my husband bought me the soundtrack and it has become a favorite of mine - absolutely gorgeous music - timeless!

I am back, and I never tire of Maestro Williams performing my favorite piece of music. At 2.15 when the orchestra comes in, my heart falls in love. How I would have loved to meet Mr. Williams when he was writing this piece of art.

It's as well one of my favorite williams tune. kind of a Piano Concerto. I would have loved that he write a full concert suite based on this and turn it into a Piano concert. Amazing that i got this video with him playing the piano part itself ! what a gift !

This is classic music at it's best. I'm glad there are still people who enjoy good, clean music. Many thanks!

Wow, thank you for uploading this, it's nice to see the composer himself plays it. I love this piece, really soothing and calming.

Don't you just love the way the music takes off at 2:15! It reminds me of the scene showing the Concorde gliding off to the skies when Linus chases after Sabrina to Paris.

Marty, why don't you interview film composers? Are you a musician? I am dying to know how film music is thought up, to reflect the mood of the movie. Loved the SABRINA theme music, as well as the song by Sting (which I assume was written for the movie?). Maybe we can do a joint project, somehow, and find financing to cover it. I probably speak naively, not knowing all the difficulties. But it could be done by Google Hangouts, couldn't it? What do you say, Marty?

yes i'm a musician, you can visit my youtube channel here as a musician, i play a lot of john williams material : http://www.youtube.com/user/didiermartini
i studied music with one of the musician of sting.

Ah, disappointing, martyprod2! I hope they think of making a recording! (I'm sure there are others who would love to be able to slip this on a sound system, carry it in the car as a de-stressor, etc. as much as I!) Well, Marty, what's to be done, do you think?

That's why i put all the videos i have except the ones that Youtube erased here. Because nobody want to publish them in some way. i know the issues... Need authorisation from several major cinema company, several producer, several director, etc ... a headache ... that's certainly why as today, there is still not a single concert in DVD/bluray from john williams and the number available from other composer is very very small :( a friend of wine does documentaries on film composer, and it's just a "nightmare" in term of copyright.

Is there a recording of this performance (I mean, separate from the movie DVD)? I take it this was a PBS special? John Williams, are you there?

1) there is official performance of this, except this video on youtube.
2) it was certainly a PBS special
3) i'm not john williams :D

I consider him as the new Beethoven/Schumann/Grieg. How long will people wait before admit him as a great composer like those in classical period?

Responder a este comentario >>

23/10/2013 Eldor503
Of course they don't, and if they would, people would say they have no originality or personnality. However they are still great composers (Hans Zimmer, James Newton Howard, Howard Shore, James Horner...) and John Williams still record music. =)

That's right...sorry got confused. The Violin Concerto is ON the Treesong album though, probably why I got the two mixed up.

"Treesong" wasn't dedicated to her. His first violin concerto was. Treesong is his second, having to do with a Chinese dawn redwood tree in Boston Public Garden.

Can't be. The first Sabrina came out in 1953, some twenty years before Barbara's death. "Treesong", his Violin Concerto, I believe is his only "official" memorial to her.

@martyprod2 That's because he lost his first wife in '73. I think that he did Sabrina theme inspired on her!

@martyprod2 If I'm not mistaken, his first wife passed away when the original Sabrina movie was released. That's the main reason Williams agreed to score the remake.

The emotion in William's face is incredible... You can truly see how much this piece reminds him of his first wife. Amazing.
