Compositor:

The conductor is actually Antony Hermus - NOT Rory MacDonald. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Блин, послушал, ну очень далеко от оригинала. Почему нельзя сыграть так, как это сыграно Вангелисом в фильме? У меня на компакт-диске с саундтреком к фильму гораздо приятнее....

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.......
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion...
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate...
All those moments will be lost in time........ like.....
tears....
in rain............
Time to die.

Blade Runner is my favourite film of all time.

But 2049 was the most disappointing sequel ever. No idea why it got such good reviews. Had a sloppy plot and captured none of the original feel, whilst also managing to somehow contradict the message of the original.

Maybe i'm not hearing it correctly through the video, or maybe the synths of Vangelis don't translate too well to an orchestra, but the sound of Blade Runner is not complete, it's a bit off, maybe this was intentional. Even the saxophone.

This one is my favorite, by Jon Vangelis. I also like Gene & Majel Rodenberry's: Andromeda Ascendant. The Coda in Am, composed by David Fang, and Arkology: Hope lives again by Belphe in Em. I think that it would sound very good with The Danish National Symphony performing.

Did Vangelis actually use a sax to perform the main melody for the love theme or was it the specialized synthesizer that sounded like one? Oh, yeah - and also, I think the orchestra kinda cheated by using an actual synthesizer for the theme and beginning of "Tears in Rain" instead of using something orchestral that sounded similar, like that sax.

14/04/2018 Premieresoldat
Mr Invader: It's Roy Battys final speech in the film Bladerunner. Legend has it that Rutger Hauer who played the part, brilliantly I might add, took the words written and added some of his own. This was magic born!

It's a personal opinion, but I don't think the final cut is the best version; for me that goes to the first director's cut. I also think this performance was damaged by the saxofonist not following the score. He missed out a great many notes that are right there on the page.

...I (and only 28 others) watched the original BLADE RUNNER @PerthPlayhouse cinema Screen 1 in 1982, it, and Phillip K. Dick changed my life. 35yrs later BLADE RUNNER 2049 is released and I sat in the same @PerthPlayhouse cinema (it now has 7 screens) this time in IMAX with my Wife, whom I introduced to the original when we first met. We sat down in Screen 1, slightly above and behind my '82 seat position. As we settled in to watch this long-awaited 'sequel', I was conscious of the lack of patrons entering the theatre, I commented to my Wife about the lack of numbers (maybe 40-45 at the most)...then the title sequence started. Some things never change I suppose :( :/...One critique: I am in my 50's now, I wear hearing aids, though not that night, and I have to say...it was waaay too loud. Okay, I understand IMAX and Dolby and Sound-systems etc. are all the thing and I am no audio-phobe by ANY stretch of the imagination (8 spkrs + Soundbar from my 55" TV) but OMG, that soundtrack blew my eardrums out. I haD Tinnitus...and now I have "New & Improved TINNITUS" XD :D

"For example, synths' memories are built from samples of other instruments."

That's... not actually true. You're confusing synthesizers with ROMplers. True synthesizers do not generate sound using samples, but I can forgive you for being confused as so many pieces of gear have muddied the waters over the years by blending synthesis with sample playback, such as by playing back samples of raw synth waveforms recorded from other (real) synthesizers in order to generate tones.

Also, re: your original comment, most synthesizers can typically be set for infinite sustain with a simple twist of a knob, something not so easily achievable in an acoustic instrument. ;)

Nord on CS80.
07/10/2017 Fausto Villanova
Eduardo Moraz any Vst or rack? Native Nord Brass synth?
08/10/2017 Eduardo Moraz
Fausto Villanova Despite the beauty of that particular sound originally generated by the famous Yamaha CS-80, almost any synthesizer is capable to reproduce it. Of course some can do better than others and the Nord one used probably was the latest of the “Stage” series model from Nord. That machine is very powerful and capable to generate the sound using its synth onboard engine. That keyboard can load samples too which certainly is not the case in the video because the musician seems to be tweaking some parameters in real time. Although it is perfectly possible to tweak some parameters is samples too, the synth engine as I mentioned before is perfectly capable and can produce a most faithful sound pretty close to the CS-80. I believe it is not a native preset but a patch created from the scratch on the Nord Stage.

27/10/2017 j cohen
The longevity of music depends, ultimately, on whether it is played. Me, I like to soak my ears in as many new performances of my favorite music as I can find. You hear things a new way, notice details previously submerged. If nothing else, you learn new appreciation for the original recording. On this, I'm surprised it sounds so synthetic, given the apparent use of traditional instruments. The choir sounds great, though---better than the original.
