The intro is so familiar-- siting in a darkened movie theater with a bag of popcorn waiting for the start of the double feature to begin.. That isn't now, when few remember double features allowing kids to spend an afternoon entranced by the films. Listening to these tracks, memories come flooding back of the films they were part of.

Fondest memory double feature 633 squadron & seventh voyage of Sinbad Cinderella theatre, Detroit. Me and my friends weren't allowed in balcony cause older brother and his buds were with girls...hahaha. I'll guess 1964. Maybe.

Mine is a bit earlier, but the "balcony" was where teen age girls met boys, and made out as we once called it.

Muito emocionante! Eu sou nostálgico de natureza acho. Nunca vivi aquele tempo, mas sinto uma saudade!

Hey Philip Croft...this is well played but to say this is the best orchestra is very subjective.

There are 13 Orchestra Concertmasters playing in the Violins at this concert, also packed with Orchestra Principals & Professors from the Royal College & Academy of Music. Certainly the best at this kind of music.

Steiner's score was orchestrated by the great Hugo Friedhofer, who in 1947 won an Oscar® for his magnificent music for "The Best Years of Our Lives".

Beautifully done. My only complaint is that for whatever reason, the song "Perfidia" that played during the classic dance sequence with Bogie and Ingrid is missing. DAMN! That's one of the most beloved moments in the film. I thought maybe it was because the song was not one of Max Steiner's own compositions, but neither was "As Time Goes By," which definitely was included. Go figure.

Not included because of copyright restrictions.

I believe Warner Music owned the rights to "Perfidia" and used it frequently throughout their movies when needed. I guess time constraints cause the elimination of some sections.  I noticed when John Wilson did The MGM Musical's that a whole section of tom toms from Judy Garland's "Get Happy" were missing ?I also noticed that Curtis Steiger flubbed some lines in Irving Berlin's "Steppin' Out with My Baby".  And worse was Seth MacFarlane butchering "Singin' In The Rain" lyrics.
