Compositor:

That was SUPERB! Bravo. It’s not exactly like the Original screen version, but it’s enhancement fits the mood and feel perfectly. I liked all of it , the ending is just right, loud and clear. Thank you whoever you are that posted this, I didn’t know it existed. I’m putting It into my favorites playlists

In the film, the incredible dancing takes center stage, however to hear the orchestra playing this masterpiece is a real treat!

Had I been there I would've been humming and bouncing to the music. And leapt to my feet to applaud at the end!

Can't experience this super performance without picturing and feeling the excitement of that barn dance. Russ Tamblyn, Tommy Rall, those fabulous ladies, the rival suitors...just wonderful.

Outstanding! Bully for John Wilson in recalling the score. My favorite Sandy Courage theme was to "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea."

Someone said this film was destroyed,. Not so, I saw it on a cable network! Same thing was said of "The High and the Mighty" being destroyed. But I also saw that run on cable. So deaths of movies have been exaggerated.

John Wilson has done a great job transcribing Alexander "Sandy" Courage's orchestration of Gene de Paul's wonderful score for this classic MGM musical.

I also have the John Wilson CD. The booklet lists Saul Chaplin and Adolph Deutsch as the MGM arrangers of the Barn Dance, although Alexander Courage definitely worked on Seven Brides. There is a wonderful interview on YouTube with Alexander Courage ("Archive Interview Part 2") where he talks about his days working at MGM.

Alexander Courage wrote that, and he also arranged the dance music and orchestrated this legendary piece of music based on a melody by Gene DePaul.
